Secure access to iPath with SSL encryption

Access to iPath is optionally possible over SSL encryption. The server certificate is issued by the CAcert organisation. Server certificates have only a limited life span and need to be re-issued after a while. Our old certificate had expired some time ago resulting in ugly warning messsages for our users. With the new certificate from CAcert you can now install the CAcert root certificate and trust it to identify our server certificate permanently:

Important Note: Our SSL certificate is issued to the https://telemed.ipath.ch address only. Though the encryption on the https://telepath.patho.unibas.ch is 100% the same you might get a security warning there as the certificates url (ipath.ch) does not match the server's (unibas.ch). Installing two different certificates on one server is technically not possible.

Installing the CAcert Root Certificate

By Installing the CAcert root certificate your browser can verify the validity of the SSL certificate for our iPath server and will not ask you every tmie that you log in. (See figure below for illustration of the CAcert website)
step 1: goto http://cacert.org and click on the link "Root Certificate"

Microsoft Internet Explorer:
step2: click on the link to "Root Certificate (PEM Format)". On the following dialog click on "open". On the next dialog you can verify the validity of the certificate by cilcking on details and then scrolling down to the "fingerprint" field. The value must be the same as written on the Cacert website (c.f. step 3 in figure). Now, Click on "Intsall Certificate" and follow the instructions
