Have you always been frustrated that you cannot easily take your browser or email client with your settings and run it on any computer? Or that you cannot install certain applications on a computer at work?

I have come across a very nice solution called "Portable Apps". They package open-source applications like FireFox or OpenOffice in a way that you do not need to install it locally. All files (application, settings, favourites) are all saved in one folder and you can easily copy it form one place to another and you can even run e.g. FireFox off a memory stick.
